The short version: we collect almost nothing. No accounts, no tracking pixels of our own, no selling or sharing of your information — ever. Your zip code never leaves your browser.

What We Collect

Comparison inputs. When you run a comparison, your age group, housing preference, and priorities are sent to our server to calculate results and generate your summary. They are processed and discarded — not stored or linked to you.

Your zip code stays on your device. If you enter a zip code, distance calculations happen entirely in your browser using a public geocoding lookup. Your zip code is never sent to or stored on our servers.

Feedback and county requests. If you use the feedback widget or request a county, we store what you type — including your email address if you choose to provide one. We use that email only to follow up on your request or to tell you when a requested county is added. Providing it is always optional.

Basic analytics. Like most websites, we may use a standard analytics service (such as Google Analytics) to understand aggregate usage — pages visited, approximate region, device type. This is aggregate data; we don't use it to identify individuals.

What We Don't Do

We don't sell, rent, or share your personal information with anyone. We don't run our own tracking cookies. We don't require accounts. We don't store your comparison results. We don't send marketing email unless you explicitly opted in to hear from us.

AI-Generated Summaries

The narrative summary on your results page is generated by an AI service (Anthropic's Claude API). The data sent to generate it consists of your comparison inputs and the resulting county scores — no contact information, no zip code, nothing identifying you.

Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure

This site may contain affiliate links or clearly labeled sponsored placements (for example, a featured local real estate agent). We may earn a commission if you use those links or services. Sponsorships and affiliate relationships never influence county scores or rankings — see our methodology for the full pledge.

Data Retention & Your Rights

Feedback and county-request submissions are kept only as long as they're useful for improving the site. If you'd like anything you submitted deleted — including your email — contact us and we'll remove it.

Children

This site is intended for adults planning retirement and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
